Streatham Redskins brush aside Solent Devils and Oxford City Stars to make it three wins in a row

Streatham Redskins 9-6 Solent Devils
Oxford City Stars 3-7 Streatham Redskins
Adam Wood feels he is settling well into life at Streatham Redskins after helping his new side to back-to-back wins this weekend.
Wood scored twice in Saturday’s thrilling win over Solent Devils on Saturday and once more against Oxford City Stars on Sunday as Redskins made it three wins from four league games this season.
Wood even got the crowd on their feet on Saturday when he dropped gloves with Solent’s Steve Gosset as the away side vented frustration at Streatham’s vivacious attacking display.
He said: “It’s still early days, I have only been with the team two or three weeks now so the lines are still being worked out.
“It’s an easy team to fall in to, everyone has been good.
“We [he and other new signings] quickly felt at home on the ice as well as in the dressing room.”
Callum Best was man of the match on Saturday as Redskins made hard work of defeating Solent in an entertaining goal fest which saw former Solent keeper Aaron Taylor busy keeping his old club at bay.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead through Jack Tarczycki and Liam Rasmussen, Redskins twice found themselves behind in the match.

Two goals from Wood twice brought them level and it wasn’t until late in the second period when the Redskins began to pull away – Steven Fisher and Best both scoring twice and Michal Oravec once.

“We should be winning games like that pretty comfortably.” said captain Joe Johnston.

“It’s good to score nine goals but I think we can do a bit better defensively.”

A fast paced spectacle saw the Redskins concede twice during Solent power plays, while Best had the chance to complete his hat-trick late on and put Streatham into double figures, but Solent keeper Martin Clayton bravely denied him.

The game at Oxford was a feisty affair that saw both Louis Lockwood and Joe Allen given 10-minute misconducts as the game threatened to boil over.

Streatham kept their cool though and won courtesy of goals from Brandon Miles, Best, Allen, Fisher, Tarczycki, Wood and Oravec.
