Chelsea seek revenge against Sunderland at Stadium of Light

Sunderland v Chelsea @ The Stadium of Light

Saturday November 29 @ 17.30

Chelsea will be out for revenge against Sunderland tomorrow after the Black Cats scuppered their title hopes last season.

Fabio Borini’s late penalty against his former club handed Jose Mourinho his first home league defeat in 78 games as Chelsea manager back in April and proved crucial as the Blues finished the season in third.

The league leaders will hope to build on the momentum of their dominant 5-0 Champions League victory over FC Schalke on Tuesday night and continue their unbeaten run in the league.

Despite suffering a knock during that game in Germany, Chelsea’s top scorer Diego Costa is fit to face Sunderland, as is his partner in crime Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard has scored in three of his last four meetings with Sunderland in the league, with a total of four against them, more than he has netted against any other team in the competition.

Since their 8-0 destruction at the hands of Southampton last month, Sunderland have notched up five points in their last four games and will face Chelsea off the back of two successive draws with Everton and Leicester.

Gus Poyet’s side will hope Steven Fletcher can build on his four league goals so far in the campaign and potentially push them out of their position at 14th in an increasingly congested mid-table.
