Non-League Preview: Sutton must beware FA Cup debutants FC Romania

Sutton United have been warned not to underestimate FA Cup debutants FC Romania when they meet in the second qualifying round tomorrow.

United travel to Cheshunt to face The Essex Senior League side – three tiers below them in the Non-League pyramid – who were formed in 2006 by Romanian immigrants and sit second in their table.

And manager, Paul Doswell believes a similar performance to last weekend’s 3-0 loss to Ebbsfleet United would see them struggle against a team which has already knocked out Ryman League opposition.

He said: “They’re clearly playing in a league which they’re too good for.”

Jessy Reindorf, Sutton United’s leading goal scorer this season, remains a doubt for the match due to injury.

Raynes Park Vale of the Combined Counties League made club history by progressing to the second qualifying round for the first time after beating Ramsgate in the first qualifying round.

They will need to produce a big upset though if they are to continue their run, as they face a tough trip to Ryman Premier League Billericay Town.

Also in the cup, Metropolitan Police host East Thurrock United, Kingstonian have an away trip to Romford, and Tooting & Mitcham are also away to Bishop’s Stortford.

Away from the cup, in the Ryman Premier League, Hampton & Richmond will hope to build on back-to-back wins this week against East Thurrock United and Enfield Town when they play bottom club AFC Hornchurch away.

Ryman League Division One will see Corinthian Casuals go to Herne Bay and Walton & Hersham host Chipstead.

Walton Casuals will aim to build on picking up their first points of the season this week when they take on fellow league strugglers East Grinstead at home in a bottom of the table clash.

In the Combined Counties League, Colliers Wood United host Westfield.
