Sean Scarbrough ready for Streatham Redskins double header against Solent Devils and league leaders Chelmsford

Streatham Redskins forward Sean Scarbrough was eager to bounce back from last Sunday’s disappointment ahead of this weekend’s double header.

Last week they beat Wightlink Raiders before losing to old adversaries London Raiders, but they will look to respond with a home game against Solent Devils on Saturday and a trip to league leaders Chelmsford on Sunday.

Solent lie in 7th place, 17 points behind third-placed Streatham, but Streathams forward Sean Scarbrough was wary of their threat posed.

“Solent are a much improved squad this season,” he said.

“They’re a well drilled team with a much improved offensive attack and they also have a goalkeeper who can steal a game if we don’t get to him early and often.”

Two weeks ago Streatham took four points off Chelmsford, and Scarbrough was keen to continue their good run.

“We’ve had some recent success against Chelmsford, but they are still the team to beat in this league.

“Every team gives their best shot against Chelmsford each week and the Essex outfit rise to the occasion more often than not.

“They’ve more than likely already secured the top spot on the table, but we have a lot of games left against them, and it’s important we have good performances to keep our confidence high going into the Cup and playoffs.”

Scarbrough bagged a goal in each of the games last week, and is happy with his personal form after some early season toil.

“It’s nice to be riding a scoring streak after struggling to meet the standards I set for myself.

“I’ve been working hard with teammates to find a balanced chemistry that allows us to maximize our scoring opportunities.

“Luckily, I’ve been able to hit on most my chances and feel that will continue as the season progresses.”

Streatham will be selling signed pictures of Scarbrough in flight against Chelmsford two weeks ago, and Scarbrough was happy to receive some extra attention.

“Rick Webb, the photographer, did an amazing job capturing that moment.

“I’m just happy Streatham fans are interested in having the photo for themselves.

“I’ve secretly always wanted to be a model, this isn’t quite what I had in mind, but I’ll take it.”
