Streatham Redskins Steve Fisher expects ‘defining’ weekend in double header

Streatham Redskins forward Steve Fisher claims this weekend’s double header against Bracknell Hornets and Wightlink Raiders will be crucial to defining their season.

Redskins are top of the English National League South One on goal difference having won their last four league games.

Fisher says that confidence is running high within the team but he feels they must win both their games this weekend in order to maintain consistency.

“It’s going to be a really difficult weekend but our results will show where we are heading this season,” said Fisher.

“Bracknell and Wightlink are two of the toughest teams we’ve played so far as we have seen in our previous games against them.

“But we need to win both games and that’s what we are going to do.”

Fisher’s forward line with Callum Best and Michal Ovarec has proven to be deadly as they have scored a large number of Streatham’s goals this season.

The Welshman expressed his delight at this. He said: “We all just seem to know where each other are on the ice so at the moment it’s just flowing really well.

“Hopefully nothing interrupts that and we can just carry on going because if we play well then our line is going to score goals.

“And as long as we keep improving then the team shouldn’t be having any problems against the other teams.”

And Fisher added that a double win this weekend would sustain their challenge for the league title.

“It would definitely send a message out that we are seriously contending for the title this year and that’s what we aim to do.”
