Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much loved Starlight Express is back for 2012, starting its UK tour at the New Wimbledon Theatre from Thursday 10 – Saturday 19 May.

Produced by the multi-talented Bill Kenwright [Blood Brothers / Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat] this unique musical is described as rock on roller skates.

The futuristic production tells the tale of love, hope and adversity and without revealing too much the plot revolves around a group of toy railway trains that come to life in the mind of a young boy.

What is promised is that this show will take you on the ride of a lifetime.

Starlight Express first opened back in 1984 to a packed audience at the Apollo Victoria in London’s West End.

Originally it ran for 18 years with over 7000 performances and has taken in over £140 million at the box office – the show is one of the most successful productions of all time.

The lyrics come courtesy of Richard Stilgoe while famed choreographer and television judge Arlene Phillips is on board as director and choreographer after choreographing the original West End production.

Ms Phillips has enjoyed success choreographing and directing productions including Saturday Night Fever, The Sound of Music, Grease, We Will Rock You and Jesus Christ Superstar.

The amazing production is performed exclusively on roller-skates and promises two hours of excitement  speed, spectacle, energy, daredevil stunts and turbo charged excitement.

These elements combined with a thrilling soundtrack, stunning sets and costumes make it one not to miss.

So buckle up; the race is truly back on!
