Non-League Preview: Sutton United on the FA Cup trail again

After a heroic run that saw them reach the Fifth Round last season, Sutton United take on Paulton Rovers in the final qualifying round for this year’s FA Cup.

Victory would see the National League side into the First Round proper, where League One and League Two teams make their tournament bow.

In 2016-17 Sutton knocked out Cheltenham Town, AFC Wimbledon and Leeds United in successive rounds before their run ended at the hands of eventual winners Arsenal.

Paulton are three divisions below Sutton and sit 18th in the Southern League West, but have won four straight and seven of their last nine in all competitions.

Elsewhere in FA Cup Qualifying Hampton & Richmond Borough host Truro City, hoping to reach the First Round for the first time in 10 years.

The two sides are well-acquainted after their National League South meeting last weekend at Truro, where Jack Cook’s opener was cancelled out by a late penalty.

The draw was Hampton’s seventh in an ongoing 10-match unbeaten run and ended Truro’s seven-match winning streak in the process.

In the Bostik Premier second-placed Dulwich Hamlet will look for a sixth consecutive win when they travel to Staines Town, before hosting Harlow Town on Tuesday.

Dulwich’s division rivals Kingstonian will be led by interim boss Kim Harris at Lowestoft Town after former manager Craig Edwards resigned on Wednesday.

Struggling Tooting & Mitcham United are also away at Brightlingsea Regent, aiming to build on last week’s first league win of the season against bottom side Worthing.

Corinthian-Casuals will look to keep up the pressure at the top of the Bostik South when they travel to Cray Wanderers, while Walton Casuals meet Herne Bay.

In the same division, Carshalton Athletic make the trip to Guernsey and Chipstead go for a first home win of the season against Thamesmead Town.
