Richmond’s StartUp Britain champion has launched an Enterprise Project at Waldegrave School, Twickenham.

Helen Roberts, who runs Entrepreneurs Worldwide and CPG Executive Consulting, hopes the project will inspire more students to start up a business at some point in their lives.

Using a Dragon’s Den style format, students will pitch ideas to Ms Roberts and Waldegrave teachers, who will then pick the winning idea.

The month long project, which closes date on 9th November, encourages students to create a business plan that will benefit the school or the borough.

Ms Roberts said: “I want to share my knowledge and experience and to inspire, encourage, motivate and support as many people as I can to go in to business as possible.”

Ms Roberts has coached, mentored, trained and supported over 50,000 people to date in her career.

It would be fantastic to engage as many students as possible to start thinking about starting a business,” said Ms Roberts, who opened her first business when she was 25 and is one of 90 StartUp Britain champions.

StartUp Britain is a national campaign that was launched by the Prime Minister David Cameron in 2011 to encourage start-up growth in the UK.

Campaign co-founder and director Emma Jones said that 50% of people want to set up a business, but only 5% do anything about it.

Ms Roberts says it is important for students to have the possibility of starting up a business in mind with a view of having more young entrepreneurs.
