LOCAL ELECTIONS 2014: Full breakdown of results in Kensington and Chelsea

Summary:

The Conservatives won 38 of 50 seats available.

By Naomi Agius and Tom Mulvihill

The Kensington and Chelsea & Fulham Conservative Party emerged victorious to gain a firm hold  of the local council for the 50th year running.

As a result of a ward boundary change, which came into effect at the end of 2013 in time for this year’s local council elections, 50 seats, instead of 54,  were up for grabs.

Winning 38 of the total seats available, the Conservatives continued their unrivalled streak, while Labour won 11 eleven seats and the Liberal Democrats gained one.

The biggest winners of the day, however, were Labour who stole two seats from the Liberal Democrats in Colville in an unprecedented victory, securing a clean sweep in the ward.

Labour secured another victory, this time over the Conservatives, triumphing with a three seat win in the newly-created Notting Dale Ward, which replaced St Charles and Notting Barns.

They had previously held two seats in St Charles, against one Conservative and had held another three in Notting Barns.

They also won both two seats in the new Dalgarno ward and one in new St Helen’s, which was split tightly between the Conservatives and Labour, with the party candidates gaining 684 votes and 683 votes each respectively.
