Hello! Superstar Adele storms back into charts with tear-jerker single

Superstar Adele, the Norwood-born Bond songstress, has released her first single in three years, Hello, leaving fans in tears.

The 25-year-old grew up with her mum, Penny Adkins, in a small flat above the This, That and the Other Discount Store in West Norwood.

It’s a far cry from the luxury of her two seven-figure mansions in west London, which she shares with husband Simon Konecki, and three-year-old son Angelo.

The star took some time out from the spotlight since Angelo was born, but her comeback has been hotly awaited since her last release, Oscar-winning Bond track Skyfall, in 2012.

It seems Adele’s melancholy song is touching even the toughest of music fans, Harlequins prop Joe Marler wasn’t ashamed to admit the tune brought him to tears.

Despite her stratospheric rise to fame, Adele has registered a sense of nostalgia for the past. Speaking to Nick Grimshaw about her tearjerker single, she said: “A lot of stuff in my life has changed not because of my career and I felt myself yearning for my past because it was gone. “I didn’t want to go back but I missed elements of it. It’s about my relationships with everyone I love – not that we’ve fallen out, but because life moves on.” Adele’s other famous fans have been quick to express their joy at hearing her newest single, Made in Chelsea stars Rosie Fortescue and Caggie Dunlop tweeted their delight.
