A waggy dog tail: Battersea staffie Gizmo’s Christmas wish comes true after finding forever home

A dog who whined and screamed with sadness when he was left alone in his kennel has finally found his forever home.

Gorgeous Gizmo captured the hearts of Ian and Jan Bevis from Suffolk after they saw the media coverage of him spending six months at the centre.

Ian explained that the six-year-old staffie has come into his own since moving to his new home.

He said: “Gizmo isn’t afraid of anything anymore. He’s completely come out of his shell and is loving long walks on the beach followed by evenings cuddled up on the sofa.

“He’s the cuddliest, most affectionate staffie you could hope to meet.”

Gizmo was so shut down when he first arrived that it took staff a week before they could coax him out of his bed – he was afraid of the dark, the traffic noise and even the rain.

Because of this king-hearted Battersea Rehoming and Welfare Assistant Sarah Parkinson fostered him for months, taking him home each evening so he didn’t have to spend the night in kennels.
