RESULT: Conservative Greg Hands holds Chelsea & Fulham seat despite lower majority

Conservative Greg Hands has held on to the Tory safe seat of Chelsea and Fulham albeit, with a reduced majority of 8166.

Mr Hands took 52.6% of the vote ahead of his nearest challenger, Labour’s Alan De’Ath who increased Labour’s share to 33.2% from 23.1% in 2015.

Labour candidate and councillor, Alan De’Ath challenged Mr Hands’ record as MP.

He said: “I think people have been fed up with an MP, Greg Hands, who’s ignored them. Hopefully he will reflect on tonight and maybe stand up for residents. ”

Turnout was up slightly to 67.6% from 63.4% in 2015, a pattern reflected across the country.

Greg Hands (Conservative) 52.6% (22179), Alan De’Ath (Labour) 33.2% (13991), Louise Rowntree (Lib Dem) 11% (4627), Bill Cashmore (Green) 1.9% (807), Alasdair Seton-Marsden (UKIP) 1.2 % (524)

Conservative hold, majority (8,166) + (-7,856)

Turnout 42128 (67.6%) +4.2%
