Harlequins Ladies feeling confident for Tyrrells Premier 15s women’s rugby league start

The Harlequins Ladies team will join the Tyrrells Premier 15s  league starting this month, going head to head against nine other teams across the country.

The domestic competition, which kicks off on 16 September, was launched in October last year and has had a large investment from the Rugby Football Union.

Harlequins Ladies’ coaches, Gary Street and Karen Findlay, are delighted the team has been selected and are hoping for an excellent year to  come.

“We can predict that we’re going to have a really good women’s programme,” said head coach, Gary.

“But our success is having young girls playing rugby from schools and being a Harlequin in the future – we want to do well and succeed in the league and cup but growing the game and growing the women’s foundation is equally as important.”

Co-head coach Karen said: “I think it will really put it on the map and I think it will increase a phenomenal amount of players coming into the game through every level.

“I think each one of the clubs will take on a responsibility to create a genuine community pathway to really give young, aspiring girls every opportunity to get right through the ranks of the game.”

The other teams to feature in the league are: Bristol Ladies, Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, Firwood Waterloo Ladies, Gloucester-Hartpury Women, Loughborough Lightning, Richmond Women, Saracens Women, Wasps Ladies and Worcester Ladies.
