I do, again! Clock is ticking for SW London couples wishing to convert civil partnership into marriage for free

Loved-up couples in existing civil partnerships who want to convert their union to a marriage have just ten days to do it free of charge.

From December 10 anyone who wants to take advantage of the change will have to pay £46 for the conversion with an additional £4 charge per certificate.

Those wanting to convert should contact their local register office and will be required to provide their original civil partnership certificate and relevant ID.

Superintendent Registrar for Richmond Registration Services, Alison Parr, said: “Over the past 12 months 75 couples have converted their civil partnership into a marriage.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind others who might be thinking of converting that the fee will be shortly introduced.

“We would encourage any couples wishing to convert, prior to the fee being introduced, to contact us as soon as possible to discuss availability.”

If couples wish to have a full ceremony, additional fees will apply.
