FILM FANS in Wimbledon now have even more choice with the opening of a new cinema in HMV’s store on The Broadway last Friday.

The venue will screen the latest blockbusters alongside alternative cinema, live opera and host question and answer sessions with music and film artists.

Housed two floors above the existing store, the venue has three screens, a licensed cafe bar and the latest digital screening and sound technology.

The official opening followed the name change to HMV Curzon and a store-front transformation, which now has a digital screen advertising the cinema releases.

The shop and cinema, opened up with The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and Disney Pixar’s UP in 3D.

This is the sixth Curzon cinema to open in London and the most recent product of HMV’s partnership with Curzon Artificial Eye (CAE).

Manager Karolina Kus said: “I am very excited about this new opportunity. The customers who have seen the cinema so far seem to really like it.”

“We encourage working together with the local Wimbledon people to come up with ideas for the cinema and that’s what makes us different – we’re a community.”

CAE is a UK independent film distributor with a library of over 300 films, and other Curzon cinemas include Mayfair and Soho.
