Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock urges primary school children to ‘Move’ for Battersea animal charity

Little Mix pop starlet Leigh-Ann Pinnock is urging primary schools to showcase their best moves to raise money for the animal charity.

Primary schools from the West Midlands to Devon have already signed up to take part in Battersea’s Dance Off competition, which will take place across the country on June 22-26.

Leigh-Ann is a huge fan of the animal charity and often visits the south London centre to spend time comforting homeless dogs and cats seeking new homes.

She said: “I want to say a massive thank you to all those who’ve already signed up to the Battersea Dance Off.

“All the money your school will raise will go towards caring for the 8,000 dogs and cats Battersea looks after every year.

“Without the support of schools, the dogs and cats would not receive the love, care and attention they deserve when they become homeless.

“There’s still time to sign up, so it’s time to start practising your moves!”

All schools are invited to get involved and all money raised will go towards helping the 8000 lost, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats that arrive at the world famous rescue centre each year.

School children like Louis will be taking part to help the many dogs and cats that come through Battersea’s doors every day.

Four-year-old Louis from Martins Wood primary school in Herefordshire adopted his cat Rosie from Battersea.

He said: “I really love my Rosie, she is my best friend.

“All cats like Rosie should have best friends and nice homes to live in.

“We should help Battersea look after all the dogs and cats because they all need new homes and families to love and feed them.”

The Dance Off will give children the opportunity to get creative using dog and cat inspired moves.

It’s also a great way for teachers to include physical activity and exercise into the school day.

The competition can be between groups in a class, different classes, teachers versus pupils or even a school-wide event.

Amanda Bringans, Battersea’s Head of Fundraising, said: “At Battersea we strive for a world where every dog and cat has a safe and loving home, and that starts with schools.

“As pupils are the pet owners of the future, it’s important that we work with schools to encourage responsible and enjoyable ownership and also advice on how to stay safe around dogs.”
