BREAKING: Fire engines called to blaze at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge

More than 100 firefighters are tackling a large fire at the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge.

Up to 15 fire engines are attending the scene after a fire broke out at around 4:00pm today.

The roads around the hotel have been shut, causing gridlock in central London, while smoke billowing from the building can be seen for miles around.

The hotel has 181 bedrooms and a spa featuring 13 treatments rooms, an Oriental Suite with two massage beds and a Rasul water temple, a Bastien Gonzalez Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio and two additional beauty rooms providing a series of express treatments

The hotel completed an 18-month, reported £185m refurbishment project in May, when it unveiled brand new bedrooms, spa and facilities.

Designer Joyce Wang took inspiration from the hotel’s royal heritage and parkside location.

Prices for a superior room at the hotel start from £600 per night, while the presidential suite is priced at £4,370 per night.
