Boasting a cocktail list with more sugar than a candy shop and a barbecue menu every street party dreams of, dinner at The Jam Tree in Clapham Common is sure to put a smile on your face.
Despite a classic British drizzly summer, The Jam Tree refuses to let the weather get them down.
Their newly-introduced barbecue menu is still going ahead regardless of whether the sun is shining or not.
The grill menu features favourites from the classic cheese burger and a whole rack of ribs to a king fish steak, a Phaldari Seekh kebab and jerk chicken.
WHOLE RACK OF RIBS: Not for the faint-hearted
Unfortunately for the SW4 restaurant when the sun hasn’t got its hat on they have to cook their summer dishes in the kitchen grill instead of outside over the coals meaning the flavours lose that added spark.
Nonetheless the marinated lamb kebabs and tiger prawns were mouth-wateringly good and we wiped our plates clean, they just lacked the rustic flavour you get from a BBQ.
MMM-MARINATED LAMB KEBAB: 10/10 for presentation
What the dinner lacked was made up for in cocktails. Novelty concoctions ranged from ‘Netflix & Chill’, ‘Jam Tree’ and ‘Jammy Dodger’ to crowd-favourites including a porn star martini and a long island iced tea.
The theme continued into dessert with chai spiced rice pudding and mango pudding for the more adventurous Londoners to the classic double chocolate & banana brownie and chocolate fudge sundae.
MENAGE A TROIS: I went for a fancy one and it was worth it
The tentative staff went over and above to ensure our drinks were always full and our grins were always wide.
As highlighted in their ‘Classics & Twists’ cocktail menu there really is something for everyone in this Clapham hangout.
Too lazy to crack out the BBQ? Fancy more than just a lukewarm Pimm’s? Head over to The Jam Tree for a delightful evening with a twist.
