The BBC is moving controversial highlights show Wimbledon 2Day back to Centre Court and dropping the live audience after mounting criticism about the show’s format.
Tonight’s show, presented by Clare Balding, will be broadcast from the grounds of the All England Club without a live audience while producers continue toying with the format.
Viewers have complained about the lack of time dedicated to game play in the show and likened it to BBC satire W1A.

This comes less than a month after the broadcaster announced the change in format and revealed Clare Balding would replace John Inverdale as the face of the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We said from the outset that Wimbledon 2Day would evolve throughout the championship.
“Of course we listen to audience feedback and that helps to shape the changes we make.
“We have moved to a new location, on top of the Centre Court building, which gives an excellent backdrop of the heart of Wimbledon, as the championship builds to its climax.”
