Wimbledon 2015: Selfie sticks given (tennis) elbow from All England Lawn Tennis Club

Selfie sticks have been banned from Wimbledon tennis matches.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has warned that photography fans who wish to net a selfie in the iconic courts will not be allowed to take them using the smartphone aid.

The Wimbledon ticketholders’ guide reads: “In common with many other major sports and entertainment events and cultural attractions, the Championships will not allow selfie sticks into the grounds.”

An AELTC spokesman told the Sunday Times that they had made the ruling partly due to the ‘nuisance value’ but ‘primarily so it doesn’t interfere with spectators’ enjoyment’.

Back in March London’s National Gallery banned the device following the lead of the Palace of Versailles and New York Museum of Modern Art.
