Trumpeters’ House garden party will bring homelessness charity back to its Richmond home

Richmond’s Trumpeters’ House is hosting a garden party and art fair on Sunday 23 June to raise vital funds for south west London homelessness charity SPEAR.

The gardens will be full of entertainment including a baking competition judged by 2016 Great British Bake off winner Selasi Gbormittah and Richmond Mayor Nancy Baldwin, a vintage clothes sale, family games and a raffle, all accompanied by live music from musicians such as The Elastic Band, Richmond Youth Jazz Band and Wimbledon String Quartet.

The day will showcase artwork from local artists and collectors that will be open for visitors to purchase. The owner of Trumpeters’ House, artist Baroness Van Dedem, will paint portraits after the event of people who bring a photo on the day in return for appropriate donations for SPEAR.

CEO of SPEAR London Stuart Nevill said: “Whether it’s donating artwork to be sold, local businesses donating cakes for the bake sale or families enjoying a great day out, the money we raise is vital for us to help people in south and west London find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future.”

Research shows that in 2017/2018 SPEAR and more than 132 of its volunteers helped to provide supported housing for 157 people, 47 of which were women.

SPEAR London head of fundraising Heidi Shrimpton said: “It promises to be a fantastic day at Trumpeters’ House and it’s the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of SPEAR and bring our community and supporters together.

“We started in Richmond and now we are in five boroughs, so it will great be back in Richmond for this event – the heart of SPEAR.”

Entry is £3 for adults and free for children and tickets can be purchased on the websiteFor more information about the event and SPEAR email: [email protected]
