Bec Korfball Club are hoping for a win in their semi-final play-off match against Kingfisher in Croydon tomorrow.
The south west London team have reached the England Korfball League play-offs for three consecutive years now — and after falling at the final hurdle in the last two years, they are confident that it will be third time lucky for them as they make their final preparations.
The semi-final matches will take place at Whitgift School on Saturday, with the winners of both fixtures then facing off in Sunday’s final match.
Bec will take on Kingfisher, with long-term rivals Trojans facing off against Nomads in the other semi-final match.
In the regular season Bec finished at joint top of the league with Trojans, so there is potential for yet another showdown between the two in Sunday’s final — with the possibility of Trojans winning their ninth league championship.
Davesh Patel, Bec 1st team captain, said: “The last two years we’ve managed to get to the play-offs and win the semi-finals but we just fell a little bit short in the finals.
“Hopefully it is a question of this time round do the job in the semi-final, which is going to be a tough game, but then hopefully third time lucky and this time actually end up on the right side of the result.”
