A LOT of people are trying to make a big deal of Roman Abramovich visiting the Chelsea training ground – but I think they are trying to make something out of nothing.

Yes the result against Manchester United was far from ideal. Being three goals up with half an hour left you are thinking that Chelsea will win comfortably.

But it wasn’t to be and what it showed is that Chelsea are far from what they were under Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.

There’s clearly still work to be done and you know they’re still searching for the right mix under Andre Villas-Boas.

But I fully expect him to be there to sort it out and I don’t buy into the notion that the owner is visiting the training ground because he is looking to get rid of the manager.

Just because it’s Chelsea everyone jumps on the owner going to the training ground, starting putting one and one together and making three.

Why wouldn’t the owner go down to the training ground? Why wouldn’t he if he has a day off, if he’s not doing anything, pop down and have a look round the training ground, see the guys, watch the lads train?

I think it’s a perfectly natural thing to do but because it’s Chelsea, of course everyone jumps on the bandwagon and says ‘Oh god he’s in trouble again, he could be going’.

I think AVB deserves some time to reshape this Chelsea side otherwise what was the point of getting him in?

So anyone putting their hand in their pocket saying that AVB will be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, I would suggest it is going to be a wasted investment.
