Sun, sea and sand: Little slice of Caribbean paradise jets into Croydon with urban beach

Sun seekers can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Caribbean in the centre of Croydon this summer.

Croydon on the Beach, which is supported by Saint Lucia Tourist Board, will transform Platform, Ruskin Square into an urban beach with 45 tons of soft white sand, seven days a week until September 6.

People can get their weekends started early with exotic Saint Lucian-style beach parties with street food, live music, family fun and cocktails for the grown-ups, with the fully licensed Street Cocktails bar on Thursday and Friday.

Visitors also have the chance to win a luxury, £5,000 trip for two people to the beautiful Caribbean island, by entering an exclusive online competition, courtesy of Saint Lucia Tourist Board.

Saint Lucia Tourist Board Director of Marketing, UK and Europe, said: ‘It’s great to be the first destination to support Croydon on the Beach, a fantastic initiative which will help us raise awareness of Saint Lucia’s unique appeal among the local workers and commuters.

“We’ll bring a slice of the sensational Caribbean island of Saint Lucia to the space by providing six weeks of interaction through immersive images, music, dance and cuisine.

“The amazing Saint Lucia holiday prize will also give one lucky winner the chance to experience the beautiful beaches of Saint Lucia for themselves.”
