Streatham woman arrested at Luton Airport on terrorism charges

A Streatham woman was arrested by counter terrorism officers at Luton Airport this morning after being deported Istanbul by Turkish police.

Jamila Henry, 21, was arrested on suspicion of preparation of acts of terrorism, under section 5 of the Terrorism Act.

She was returning to the UK after being detained at a bus station in Ankara in Turkey by police who suspected she was trying to travel to Syria.

The British national is believed to have travelled to Turkey using her twin sister Jalila’s passport.

She is currently in custody at a south London police station while enquiries continue.
