Second man arrested on suspicion of murder following Battersea shooting

A second man was arrested on suspicion of murder last night following the shooting of 21-year-old Sebastian Jamal Hyman-Knight in Battersea last week.

The 29-year-old is in custody at a south London police station while a 30-year-old man who was arrested on September 13 in connection with the investigation has been bailed.

Police were called at around 11.30pm on September 11 to reports of a shot fired in Tennyson Street.

Officers attended the scene and found Sebastian in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital where he died in the early hours of September 12.

A post-mortem examination held at St George’s Hospital in Tooting on September 13 gave cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and an incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Charles King.

Police retain an open mind as to any motive.
