A murder probe was launched on Wednesday after a man was killed in Richmond-upon-Thames last weekend.
Metropolitan police attended at 4.30pm on Saturday to reports of a body found at a house on Cromwell Road, and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Although formal identification has not taken place, police are confident the victim is 58-year-old Carl Whitehead from Teddington.
A 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and both remain in custody.
A special post-mortem examination carried out on Monday gave the cause of death as consistent with blunt force trauma.
The death is the third murder in south London in ten days, after the death of a woman in Balham last Tuesday and the killing of a man in Peckham on Monday.
Naseer Khan, 66, was charged with the murder of his wife, 62-year-old Tanseen Sheikh, who is understood to have been assaulted, and was found at an address on Balham Park Road.
Ms Sheikh was attended to by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination conducted at St George’s hospital gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.
London is on course for the highest number of killings in a decade, with the total for this year surpassing 2017’s figures.
The number of homicides in London reached 123, exceeding 2017’s 118. Metropolitan Police say that if killings continue at the current rate, the total will stand at 140 by the end of the year, the highest number since 2008.
