Police launch investigation into Tooting murder

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Tooting.

Police were called at approximately 2:45pm on Monday March 26 to a residential address on Tooting High Street following concerns for the welfare of a resident.

Officers forced entry at 3:12pm and found the body of a 50-year-old man.

The victim had apparently been stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe they know the name of the victim, but enquiries are still underway to locate next of kin.

A post-mortem examination will take place on Wednesday March 28.
