Police appeal after 13-year-old girl died after being hit by lorry in New Malden

A tragic fatal collision where a 13-year-old girl was hit by a heavy goods vehicle in New Malden took place at 8:30 this morning.

The girl was pronounced dead at the Lime Grove scene that was attended by London ambulance services and the Air Ambulance, her next of kin have been informed.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses, the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

Detective Sergeant John Hartfree, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Lime Grove and nearby roads would have been busy with traffic and pedestrians travelling to work and schools at the time this tragic collision took place.

“It is likely that a number of people witnessed the collision, and I am appealing for them to contact the police as soon as possible.”
