Non-League preview: Met Police after first home win and high-flying Hampton & Richmond out to close gap

Hampton & Richmond host struggling Oxford City in the National League South on Saturday hoping to close the gap on league leaders Maidstone United.

The Beavers go into the game off the back of two convincing away wins, beating Weston-super-Mare 3-1 in the league last Saturday and then trouncing Hanworth Villa 5-1 to reach the Middlesex Charity Cup quarter-finals on Monday.

Hampton sit third in the league, level on points with Chelmsford in second and seven behind leaders Maidstone United, who beat them 3-2 two weeks ago.

They will hope to make it three wins in a week against an Oxford side who are just above the relegation zone, with 12 points from 16 games.

Kingstonian go to Tonbridge Angels in the Ryman Premier League having finally put their barren league form behind them.

Having gone four league games without a win, they followed up their FA Trophy success over Lewes with a commanding 4-1 victory at Hendon to push them back up to 14th.

Sixth-placed Tonbridge have only played one league game in the past month – a 4-0 loss to Wingate & Finchley – due to cup commitments but did win 3-1 in the same fixture last season.

Metropolitan Police could climb off the bottom of the table if they beat 16th-placed Burgess Hill Town at Imber Court.

The Blues are yet to win at home in seven attempts in the league this season though and were dumped out of the FA Trophy 6-2 by Brightlingsea Regent last weekend.

In Ryman League South, Walton Casuals will be looking to bounce back from their disastrous 5-0 defeat at Carshalton Athletic on Monday night as they travel to nearby Chipstead on Saturday.

Casuals are currently ninth while Chipstead are languishing in 20th.

Tooting & Mitcham are riding high in fourth but face a tough task against seventh-placed Cray Wanderers.

The Terrors will be keen to pick up where they left off from their midweek 4-3 victory against Chatham Town, secured by Michael Dixon’s winner.

Corinthian Casuals play host to Molesey with James Bracken’s side looking to get back to winning ways after defeat away to Sittingbourne on Tuesday night.
