Noel Gallagher has announced his band High Flying Birds will headline this year’s Calling Festival in Clapham this summer alongside The Hives in an illustrious line-up.
The former Oasis lead singer broke the news on Twitter that he would be performing alongside Ryan Adams and The Shining, Echo and The Bunnymen and returning Scandinavian rockers The Hives on July 4.
The 47-year-old recently courted controversy after he said he would rather drink petrol straight from the nozzle than listen to Arctic Monkeys being interviewed.
Iconic frontman and winner of the NME Godlike Genius award Gallagher is set to line up alongside bassist Russell Pritchard from The Zutons and drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees.
Gallagher’s band are the latest act in an impressive list to have performed at the Calling Festival, formerly Hard Rock Calling.
Previous performers include The Killers, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Aerosmith who headlined at last year’s festival.
Clapham Common will host the festival for the second time after last year’s success, when around 45,000 people attended the inaugural event.
