Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh supports Croydon tram crash victims and families
Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh has offered support and assistance to constituents affected by the Croydon tram crash.
The MP said she will be working to assist with signposting for relevant services, access to counselling services and emergency funding.
She also gave heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by the tragic tram crash where seven people lost their lives and more than 50 others were injured.
“It’s just really hard to get your head around something so dreadful and my heart goes out to everybody,” she said.
“Nobody builds their life expecting such a traumatic thing to happen to them, then if I can help in any way at all, we are on standby to do it.”
All affected constituents requiring support are encouraged to get in touch for more information.
Assistance is also available via the Sarah Hope Line in a joint initiative with the Mayor of London and Croydon Council.
Croydon Council’s Community Assistance Centre at the CALAT New Addington Centre is also open to all and will have representatives from Samaritans and the Red Cross.
A Croydon Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm members of the public are accessing the wide range of services being provided by the council and its voluntary partners.”
Counselling services, support groups and community churches will be present at the centre which is open weekdays 10am-10pm and 9am-9pm on weekends.
