Mayweather v Pacquiao: London boxing fans can watch ‘fight of the century’ at Clapham Grand

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio will finally touch gloves in what has been dubbed the ‘fight of the century’ this weekend.

London boxing fans who haven’t got the cash to splash out on flights to Las Vegas and tickets with eye-watering price tags have the chance to watch it at the Clapham Grand on May 3.

Doors will open at 1am on May ahead of the fight at 4am where there will be a fully-licenced bar, hot food and a free beer on arrival.

Mark Pope, General Manager of the Clapham Grand said: “We are delighted to be showing the fight of the century at The Clapham Grand.

It’s being screened in high definition on our 40 square metre cinema-sized screen and we are pleased that within a day of going on sale we sold 500 tickets.”

Although both fighters are considered past their primes it’s got tongues wagging about who will walk away victorious.

Pacquaio comes into the fight seemingly fully recovered after his blood-curdling knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012.

Since the knockout he has beaten Brandon Rios, Chris Algieri and Tim Bradley Jnr (in a rematch) in admittedly less-impressive fashion than his prime in 2010/11.

Mayweather is still undefeated, but struggled in his last two bouts with Argentinean brawler Marcos Maidana.

He has kept uncharacteristically quiet in the run up to the fight with some claiming he’s uneasy with the level of pressure and insecurity about his skill in the ring.

Tickets to the screening at the Clapham Grand are £15 and can be bought at www.claphamgrand.com
