Match Report: Sheffield United 4 Fulham 5

Ryan Sessegnon’s hat trick helped Fulham overcome Sheffield United in a Championship classic at Bramall Lane.

Leon Clarke scored twice in the first half, but two Sessegnon goals and a Sheyi Ojo finish gave the visitors the half-time lead.

Ojo added the fourth and Sessegnon’s third looked to have put Fulham out of sight, only for late goals from Samir Carruthers and Clarke to set up a nervy finish.

Fulham rise to 14th, while Sheffield United drop out of the automatic places.

It took only six minutes for Clarke to give the hosts the lead, finishing a rebound smartly.

Ojo then pounced on a wayward defensive pass to level, and Sessegnon let fly from outside the box to turn the score around.

Clarke fired in from a very tight angle to level the scores again, but teenager Sessegnon ensured the visitors would have the advantage at half time.

Ojo’s long-range deflected strike and a precise finish from Sessegnon put Fulham 5-2 up and seemingly out of sight with ten minutes left.

five minutes later, Carruthers’ strike took a deflection to breath new life back into the game, before Clarke secured his own hat trick with a well-placed hear.

The Blades couldn’t complete a remarkable turnaround and Fulham secured a valuable win on the road as they aim to start climbing the table.
