Match Report: QPR 1 Bristol City 1

QPR held high-flying Bristol City to a creditable Championship draw at Loftus Road.

Aden Flint’s own-goal gave The Hoops a first-half lead, but Bobby Reid’s controversial spot kick ensured the points were shared in West London.

QPR are seven points clear of the relegation zone and remain in 18th, while their visitors are fourth in the table.

Alex Smithies made the game’s first save from Korey Smith’s low effort as the Carabao Cup semi-finalists started brightly.

QPR started to make inroads and had their deserved goal when Flint diverted Luke Freeman’s free-kick into his own net.

The visitors couldn’t conjure an equaliser before the break as Bailey Wright sent a volley wide.

Josh Brownhill hit the post with a header and Flint’s effort from the resulting corner was hacked off the line as the Robins sought a way back into the game.

Pawel Wszolek’s half-volley was palmed away by Frank Fielding, as QPR continued to control the game.

Smithies kept out Hordur Magnusson’s curling free-kick late in the game.

Cauley Woodrow and Reid were kept out by Smithies as the QPR stopper was called into action again.

With ten minutes to play Bristol were handed a hotly-disputed penalty, as captain Flint appeared to be felled in the box following Magnusson’s long throw.

Smithies couldn’t keep out Reid’s fierce penalty as parity was restored.

Matt Smith nodded wide in injury-time and Reid’s deflected strike had Smithies scrambling, but neither team could find the winner.
