Man arrested after woman kicked unconscious on night bus in Lambeth

By SWLondoner staff

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a gang attacked a woman on a night bus to Clapham Junction.

Officers had earlier released video footage of the attack which began at 1.15am on August 29, when a group boarded a 344 bus at a stop on Lambeth Road.

The victim, 22, was sitting at the back of the bus when the men started to criticise her dress and poured a drink over her head.

When she tried to stand up, the woman was allegedly pushed over and she hit her head, leaving her unconscious. The group then got off at the next stop.

The woman was taken to hospital where she was treated for a minor head injury and was released the same day.

Detective Constable Kyla Mulley, of Lambeth CID, said: “This was a shocking attack on a young woman, prompted by nothing more than a brief exchange of words.”
