Lord of the Rings star Sir Christopher Lee, 93, dies at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Lord of the Rings actor Sir Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93.

The acting stalwart who played Saruman in the film franchise, and also appeared in Star Wars, passed away at 8.30am on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, sources told The Telegraph.

Sir Christopher rose to fame in a string of Hammer horror films, most famously playing Count Dracula, and was said to have been treated at the hospital for respiratory problems and heart failure in the last 3 weeks.

According to the paper Lady Lee chose to delay announcing his death until all family members were told.
