Kensington and Chelsea had one of the highest number of civil partnerships in London in 2012, a new survey has shown.

The latest statistics from the Office for National Statistics shows the borough as having 132 partnerships last year.

Hammersmith and Fulham had only 37 in the same time, one of the least in London.

Whether or not you live in Kensington and Chelsea, forming a civil partnership is a special occasion,” said a spokesperson for the council.

“Choosing the right place for your registration is just as important. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has such a lot to offer.”

The Register Office at the Chelsea Old Town Hall is available Monday to Thursday with only two witnesses being allowed, with an attendance fee of £45.

The Town Hall also offers the Rossetti Room, including attendance fees of up to £210, and the Brydon Room including fees of up to £575.

107 of the partnerships in Kensington and Chelsea involved males with only 25 with females.

This was in keeping with the average in London, where about three-quarters of those entering into a civil partnership were male.

Westminster had the most civil partnerships in 2012 with 224, with only Islington also having more than Kensington and Chelsea with 151.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have been performing civil partnership registrations since December 2005.

1,729 civil partnerships took place in London last year.

There were 7,037 civil partnerships in the UK in 2012, an increase of 3.6% since 2011.
