Italian woman charged with murder of nine-week-old daughter appears at Old Bailey

A woman charged with the murder of her missing baby daughter appeared at the Old Bailey today where she was remanded into custody.

Federica Boscolo-Gnolo, 31, from Chioggia, Italy, appeared via video link from HMP Holloway where she is currently being held.

She spoke only to confirm her name and that she understood the instructions given to her by the judge, His Honour Judge Peter Rook QC.

“There will be a hearing at this court on April 21 in the hope that the matter can be tried by this court in early July,” said Judge Rook.

Although police are yet to recover the nine-week-old child’s body, it is believed to have been disposed of via waste disposal.

The trial, due to start in early July, is scheduled for a maximum of two weeks.

Ms Boscolo-Gnolo, of no fixed address in the UK, had only been in the UK for six days before she was arrested on Thursday January 29 after reporting Farah missing from a hotel in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Detectives obtained authority to charge Ms Boscolo-Gnolo with murder and she first appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday January 31.

Police are still looking for a suitcase that was discarded in the Dawes Road area of Fulham last Tuesday January 27 which could hold vital evidence in the case.

Anyone who can assist with information concerning the location of this suitcase should contact the Homicide and Major Crime Command incident room on 0208 358 0200 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
