Hunt for trio who attacked man in violent and homophobic attempted Valentine’s Day robbery

Kensington and Chelsea Borough detectives are hunting for three men following a violent attempted robbery during which the victim was subjected to homophobic abuse.

The 38-year-old victim was approached by the men on St Charles Place at the junction with Chesterton Road at approximately 3.35am on February 14.

The suspects attempted to steal the man’s mobile phone and ring before pushing him to the ground where he was kicked and punched.

The victim sustained facial injuries but didn’t require hospital treatment.

Trainee Detective Constable Rhys Williams, from Kensington and Chelsea Borough’s Community Safety Unit, said: “The victim was subjected to homophobic abuse before being kicked and beaten.

“I would urge anyone who saw the assault or men matching the description of the suspects in the area to contact police.

“I am particularly keen to speak with a man and woman who approached the victim shortly after the attack to check on his welfare.”

The suspects are all described as black, in their 20s, they were all wearing grey tracksuits – one suspect was also wearing a blue cap with a white Adidas logo.
