Five south west London Christmas light switch-on events you can still catch

There are still plenty of opportunities to get into the festive spirit and catch Christmas light illuminations across south west London.

Christmas jumpers at the ready, we round up five of the best below.

Sutton Town Centre: Saturday 24 November

Thousands are expected to attend this event at Sutton High Street, kicking off at 11am, which will see Santa’s stylish arrival parade with dancing, singing elves and a polar bear! There’s even a puppet pantomime and an elf takeover. Britain’s Got Talent finalists Flawless are also making an appearance before a lights extravaganza at 6pm with some celebrity special guests.

Wandsworth Town: Saturday 24 November

Head over to Southside Shopping Centre for festivities from as early as 11am. There will be story time and card making for the kids, along with music and entertainment, and the Christmas tree lights switch on at 4.30pm outside All Saints Church. World record holder and rower Kiko Matthews, the fastest female to row the Atlantic solo and unsupported, will make a special appearance to turn the lights on.

Putney: Friday 30 November

The annual Christmas light switch on at St Mary’s Church Square starts at 3pm where you can enjoy festive street food, local business stalls, children’s rides and a new Christmas tree forest.

Balham: Sunday 2 December

Bedford Hill Place will light up and celebrate with carols, bands, dance, and a rock choir. Treats will be aplenty with mince pies and mulled wine to go round. The Mayor of Wandsworth will make an address at 4.25pm before the switch on at 4.30pm. Festivities begin at 2pm.

Battersea: Tuesday 4 December

Carols and joy will fill Battersea Square for the switch-on at 7.30pm. Battersea Bridge Christmas tree will also be lit up on December 10 at 6.30pm by the Mayor of Wandsworth, followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the Royal College of Art Dyson Gallery.
