Electronic music festival Carnival of Colours to ‘celebrate Brixton’s diversity’

London’s newest electronic music festival, the Carnival of Colours, will start on November 27 at Brixton Bloc for a month of events until New Year’s Eve.

The unique south west London venue will host White Noise on December 4, who released the UK’s first proper electronic LP in 1969.

Carnival of Colours is the brainchild of Wesley Evans, an ex-housing association community project worker, and is part of Brixton Bloc’s commitment to celebrate the area’s vibrancy and diversity.

Mr Evans said: “We want to give as much back to Brixton as possible. People in Brixton are very supportive – they think it’s great.

“Giving artists the opportunity to showcase their work in such a visible location is really exciting.”

Other acts include Acid House pioneer Danny Rampling and the Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne.

Brixton Bloc is located on the disused social housing block of Thrayle House on Stockwell Road and consists of a large Cornwall-cider festival tent.

In addition to hosting Carnival of Colours, Brixton Bloc is also hosting a Weekend Winter Market every Saturday and Sunday featuring entertainment and food from the heart of Brixton.
