Deliveroo in ‘doughnut miss’ offer to Waterloo commuters

Deliveroo is set to treat commuters at Waterloo station this evening with a give away of thousands of specially-designed doughnuts.

The tasty giveaway will take place outside Waterloo and other zone 1 underground stations, at Euston, and St. Paul’s from 5.00pm until supplies run out.

Deliveroo worked with Doughnut Time and created a limited edition run of more than 2,000 bespoke ‘I heart LDN’ doughnuts in celebration of the capital.

A Deliveroo spokesman said: “We’re so proud to call London our hometown and wanted to treat Londoners to something delicious. Deliveroo has delivered millions of meals across the capital since it was set up 5 years ago and we know our customers love to devour a sweet treat at the end of the week.”

In August 2016 the Royal Society for Public Health published research which found the daily commute was having a detrimental effect on many people’s quality of life with 33% reporting increased snacking.

The Health In A Hurry report stated the average UK commuter adds almost 800 extra calories to their diet every week as a result of their journey.

No doubt commuters will glaze over those findings as they join the scrum and indulge in some time-limited tasty treats.

This is not the first time the delivery service provided London’s weary commuters with some moral boosting goodies.

Deliveroo gifted burgers to commuters stuck at Waterloo during the January rail strikes and offered a cooling ice cream to those braving the underground during the hottest day of the year.

Deliveroo is headquartered in London, with 2,000 employees in offices around the globe.

They are working with Doughnut Time to offer exclusive delivery through Deliveroo.

Australian doughnut shop Doughnut Time opened its first UK branch in 2017 on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End.
