Dangerous driver in Porsche 911 kills pedestrian in Balham hit-and-run

A pedestrian in his 60s was killed in a crash with a Porsche in Balham last night.

The driver of a white Porsche 911 hit a pedestrian in Bedford Hill near the junction with Balham Station Road at 10:18pm on Tuesday, September 13.

Police and ambulance services attended but the pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver of the Porsche failed to stop, but the car was found abandoned nearby – it has not been reported lost or stolen.

A 51-year-old man attended a south London police station a short time later where he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification.

Anyone who witnessed the incident – or saw the Porsche being driven prior to or after the collision – should call officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton on 020 8543 5157.

The hit-and run-happened just one hour after another fatal collision in nearby south Wimbledon.
