Ailsa Anderson will take up her new post in December.
The Archbishop of Canterbury announced last week that Lambeth Palace have appointed the Queen’s current Press Secretary, Ailsa Anderson LVO.
Mrs Anderson has been the Communications and Press Secretary to the Queen since October 2010 and will take up her new role in December.
She will now become the Director of Communications at Lambeth Palace and will include being the main spokesperson for Archbishop Justin Welby and members of his senior team based at the Palace.
Archbishop Welby was full of praise for the mother-of-two.
“Ailsa Anderson is an experienced and distinguished communications director with an exceptional record of service,” he said.
“I am absolutely delighted and honoured that she has chosen to use her great skills and experience in the service of the Church, and greatly look forward to working with her.”
Mrs Anderson has worked at Buckingham Palace since May 2001 when she was appointed Assistant Press Secretary to the Queen. She was promoted to Deputy Press Secretary to Her Majesty and Head of News at Buckingham Palace in June 2007.
She said it was a ‘dream job come true’ when she got her first post in the press office at Buckingham Palace and was exposed to the public eye on July 22 when she posted the official birth announcement of the baby Prince George outside Buckingham Palace.
“It was thrilling. It’s an amazing experience to be part of history and a rare honour,” Mrs Anderson told American magazine People.
Royal correspondent for Hello magazine Judy Wade Posted on Twitter, expressing her disappointment at Mrs Anderson’s decision to leave her post.
