With Cheltenham Festival fast approaching, thoughts are turning to having a flutter on the racecourse.

But what about those of us who can’t get to the races?

While they might not have the atmosphere of the courses, there are many ways for south west Londoners to get their gambling fill.

If you fancy yourself as a master of the mega moolah slot, check out some of the best options for gambling in the capital.

Grosvenor Victoria

Grosvenor Victoria offers a range of gambling possibilities including blackjack, American roulette and gaming terminals.

Just above The Vic is Grosvenor’s ‘The Poker Room’, a poker den with 35 tables.

This is a venue for the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, one of Europe’s largest poker tournaments.

Grosvenor themselves are part of The Rank Group and are the largest operator of casinos in UK, with nearly sixty venues located all over the country.

Grosvenor Victoria is found at 150-162 Edgware Rd, Marylebone, London W2 2DT.

Crockfords

Mayfair’s Crockfords casino is designed for gamblers with money to spend – membership at the casino is £1,000 per year.

Originally an 1820s gentleman’s club, Crockfords is an establishment where you can enjoy an high quality dining experience before hitting the roulette, blackjack and baccarat tables.

Hippodrome Casino

Initially a circus and variety act venue when it opened in 1900, the Hippodrome went through various incarnations before closing in 2005.

In 2009, the lease at the Hippodrome was snapped up by entrepreneurs Jimmy and Simon Thomas, who oversaw the restoration of the Hippodrome back to its original décor.

It was repurposed as a high-class casino, and re-opened in July 2012.

The casino has three floors of gaming including roulette, blackjack and baccarat, plus a poker deck sponsored by PokerStars.

The Hippodrome is found on Cranbourn St, London WC2H 7JH.

The Palm Beach Casino

Within the same group as Crockfords, The Palm Beach Casino at The May Fair Hotel has a similarly wide range of games on offer and the Art Deco style of the casino gives it a refined feel.

As well as catering for experienced gamblers, the casino offers introductory sessions for those new to classic games such as American Roulette or Blackjack.

The May Fair Hotel is found at 30 Berkeley St, Mayfair, London W1J 8EH.
