15-year-old boy murdered in Brixton

A 15-year-old boy was murdered in Brixton last night.

A murder investigation is underway after police were called to Loughborough Estate, SW9, at 9.24pm yesterday.

After receiving reports of a street disturbance police officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance arrived and found a teenage boy suffering serious injuries, believed to be stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the investigation and remains in custody at a south London police station.

Police believe they know the identity of the victim but are still awaiting formal identification. His next of kin have been notified.

Lambeth officers, together with officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, are leading the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Charles King is leading an incident room. At the moment there is no indication that the murder is gang related.

DCI King said: “We would appeal for anyone who has any information or witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.”
